Re-Trouvé chair and table
The success of Emu products stems from a combination of factors; glamour and functionality, creativity and technology, tradition and innovation.
The range of products in the rich and exclusive Advanced and Classic collections embrace different style trends, interpreting classic designs in innovative ways.
Emu’s Experience in Metalworking.
Research and application among the most advanced in the world. From the moment it is extracted from rock, metal presents structural properties that make it a natural element of great interest. The story of Emu merges with that of the material which inevitably represents it and with which it shares many points in common: dependability, versatility, longevity, and sensitivity toward the environment thanks to its total recyclability.
Used by Emu in the construction first of radio equipment and then of outdoor furniture, metal and cutting-edge processing techniques became the company’s specialties, recognisable on an international level. The logo well represents this corporate identity: a flower with seven petals that suggests a bundle of seven metal pipes as if to unite natural garden elements with metalworking into a single image.

Even in 1964, Emu stood out for its innovative technical skills developing fluidised-bed plasticisation; this involves surface-treating the iron to eliminate imperfections by immersing the assembled product in a large tub of suspended PVC powder. This procedure, known today as Emu Coat, was perfected and developed with the collaboration of the most important companies in the chemical sector and the Engineering Departments of the Universities of Rome and Trento.
Over the course of time, every Emu product has stood out for its durability due to the pre-treatment and processing of raw material which, combined with high-technology manufacturing techniques, transform it into furniture of style and elegance without sacrificing its imperviousness to atmospheric agents.
With the Advanced line, metal is reborn through the addition of strong emotional value and is woven like a precious fabric. The soft, sinuous lines in the new collections are interpreted by a metal no longer rigid and cold but “plastic.” The metal rods and sheets become supple, modelled as if they were pliable, undergoing a refined distortion.
Emu’s projects hinge on the development of the materials coupled with the technical innovation of deep drawing, in which sheet metal is compressed between two steel moulds creating three-dimensional forms.
Emu, with its uniquely skilled workmanship, has undoubtedly contributed to the success of metal rods as a manufacturing part for outdoor furniture. The importance of these technical advances in metalworking is directly confirmed by the current outdoor collections which exhibit carefully tended and researched structural elements.
Emu’s vast experience in metalworking increases daily as it applies new technologies and ideas without ever losing sight of the importance of finding solutions that are conscious and protective of the environment. This strong push toward research and continuous improvement ensure that Emu will always exemplify the cutting edge in its target market worldwide.

But steel isn’t all there is.

Wicker, aluminum, teak, texplast and glass, combined with design research and technological innovation that bring about growth in Emu’s production year after year. New products are created with a high level of style and design, versatile and adaptable to a wide range of uses, made to last for many years.
EMU’s latest challenge is the creation of an extensive range of outdoor fabrics: in them one finds an elegance in the design of the patterns and colors obtained, a plushness and feel similar to that of the best fabrics available, together with high functional quality and great resistance to the elements.
